Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents have detained two individuals with previous criminal convictions related to sexual offenses against minors. The apprehensions occurred in separate incidents on February 4.
The first incident took place around 6:00 p.m. when agents from the Cotulla Station attempted to stop a Ford truck on I-35. The vehicle did not comply, leading several passengers to flee into nearby brush. Five individuals were apprehended, including Hector Olvera-Espinosa from Mexico. Olvera-Espinosa has prior convictions for Sodomy of a Child, Rape of a Child, and Possession of a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Assault. He will be processed according to his immigration status.
In another event earlier that day at approximately 3:30 p.m., agents assisting the Texas Department of Public Safety stopped a female driver on the southbound side of I-35 near mile marker 20. The driver, identified as Vianey Garcia-Velazquez from Guatemala, was found to be illegally present in the United States. She also has a prior sexual criminal conviction against a minor and is currently on probation. She will be processed based on her immigration status.
