An Evansville, Indiana man has been sentenced to 13 years and 7 months in federal prison for distributing fentanyl, which resulted in a death. The sentencing was announced by U.S. Attorney Michael A. Bennett of the Western District of Kentucky, Special Agent in Charge Sheila G. Lyons of the DEA Chicago Field Division, and Chief Billy Bolin of the Henderson Police Department.
Court documents reveal that Austin Jenkins, aged 26, received his sentence following his involvement in the distribution that led to the death of a 17-year-old on October 16, 2022, in Henderson, Kentucky. After serving his prison term, Jenkins will be under supervised release for five years.
The investigation was conducted by the DEA and Henderson Police Department with assistance from the Vanderburgh County Prosecutor’s Office in Indiana. Assistant U.S. Attorney Frank Dahl prosecuted this case.
