A man from Little Rock, Arkansas, has been sentenced to federal prison for possessing a machinegun conversion device. Acting U.S. Attorney Abe McGlothin, Jr. announced that Jajuan Lee Bonds, aged 22, pleaded guilty to possession of a machinegun and received a 33-month sentence from U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone on February 7, 2025.
The court was informed that on July 21, 2022, an officer from the Corrigan Police Department stopped Bonds' vehicle and noticed what seemed to be marijuana in a clear plastic bag inside the car. Upon searching the vehicle, the officer found a firearm equipped with a machinegun conversion device known as a "Glock Switch." The modified handgun had previously been reported stolen. Federal law defines a machinegun as any weapon capable of shooting automatically more than one shot without manual reloading by a single trigger function.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence by uniting law enforcement agencies and communities. On May 26, 2021, the Department launched a strategy to strengthen PSN through fostering community trust and legitimacy, supporting organizations that prevent violence, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring results.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the Corrigan Police Department investigated this case. Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Tommy Coleman prosecuted it.
