During their discussions, Secretary Rubio expressed gratitude for Egypt's role in mediating hostage releases and maintaining humanitarian aid deliveries throughout Gaza. He also acknowledged Egypt's acceptance of medical evacuations. The Secretary highlighted the necessity of close cooperation to enhance post-conflict governance and security planning for Gaza. He emphasized that "Hamas can never govern Gaza or threaten Israel again."
The talks between Secretary Rubio and Foreign Minister Abdelatty included developments in Syria. They underscored the importance of inclusive governance and preventing Syria from becoming a base for terrorism or posing threats to neighboring countries.
In regard to Sudan, both parties addressed the need to urge conflicting sides to cease hostilities and increase humanitarian access. Additionally, they discussed concerns related to Egypt's water security.
