The release of an American citizen and two political prisoners from captivity in Belarus has been announced by Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The announcement credits the leadership of President Trump for this development.

Rubio expressed gratitude to the Lithuanian government for its role, describing them as "a true ally and friend." He also acknowledged the efforts of his team in Consular Affairs, the Office of the Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs, and the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.

"We remain committed to the release of other U.S. citizens in Belarus and elsewhere," stated Rubio. He further called for the release of approximately 1,300 political prisoners who are still detained across Belarus.
