Bradly Rosenthal, a 42-year-old resident of Wisconsin Rapids, has been sentenced to nine years in federal prison. The sentencing was announced by Timothy M. O’Shea, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin. U.S. District Judge William M. Conley delivered the sentence after Rosenthal pleaded guilty to possessing methamphetamine intended for distribution and illegally possessing two loaded firearms.
In February 2024, Rosenthal sold methamphetamine to a confidential informant on three occasions. On March 13, 2024, law enforcement received a report of suspected drug activity at a car wash in Nekoosa, Wisconsin. Officers responding to the scene encountered Rosenthal and conducted a search of his vehicle after a K9 unit alerted them to illicit substances. They discovered 266 grams of methamphetamine, two loaded firearms, a Taser, $2,000 in cash, and drug distribution paraphernalia.
Rosenthal is prohibited from legally possessing firearms due to a prior felony conviction. At sentencing, Judge Conley highlighted Rosenthal’s “repeated serious crimes,” which include previous offenses related to drug trafficking and firearms possession. He noted Rosenthal's continued “endangerment of others.”
The investigation leading to these charges was carried out by the FBI Central Wisconsin Drug Task Force along with the Wisconsin Rapids and Nekoosa Police Departments. The ATF Madison Crime Gun Task Force also contributed to the case with support from various local agencies including sheriff’s offices and police departments across Dane County and Clark County.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jennifer Remington and Megan Stelljes prosecuted this case as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative by the U.S. Justice Department aimed at reducing violent crime through coordinated efforts between state and federal prosecutors and law enforcement agencies.
