Mexican national sentenced for meth distribution in Fresno

Michele Beckwith Acting U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of California

Dario Mata-Manzo, a 33-year-old Mexican national residing in Fresno, has been sentenced to eight years and eight months in prison for distributing methamphetamine. The announcement was made by Acting U.S. Attorney Michele Beckwith.

Court documents reveal that in June 2022, Mata-Manzo negotiated the sale of crystal methamphetamine at $1,200 per pound and delivered eight pounds of the drug to undercover officers in Fresno. The documents also connect him to an interstate poly-drug trafficking organization.

The investigation was conducted by several agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and local law enforcement agencies such as the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office. It was part of a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Initiative (HIDTA) involving multiple California law enforcement departments.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Karen Escobar prosecuted the case under the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF). This task force aims to identify and dismantle high-level criminal organizations using a collaborative approach involving various agencies.
