West Virginia man sentenced for role in meth trafficking operation

William J. Ihlenfeld, II U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of West Virginia

A West Virginia resident has been sentenced for his involvement in a drug trafficking conspiracy in the Northern District of West Virginia. Joshua Noel, 42, from Elkins, was given a 78-month federal prison sentence for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Court documents and statements revealed that Noel was part of a drug trafficking organization based in Monongalia County. This group distributed large quantities of controlled substances over more than six years. The organization originated in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and transported between 5 to 10 pounds of methamphetamine per trip to Morgantown.

Following his prison term, Noel will undergo three years of supervised release. Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda Wesley is handling the prosecution on behalf of the government.

The investigation was conducted by the Mon Metro Drug Task Force, which is funded by HIDTA. U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh presided over the case.
