A federal grand jury has indicted four men from Brockton, Massachusetts, in connection with a shootout that resulted in a woman being shot in the chest. The indictment charges Natalio Miranda, 33, Jonathan Alves, 28, Romeo Miller, 26, and Jahleil Monteiro, 25.
Natalio Miranda faces charges of possession of a machine gun and being a felon in possession of ammunition. Jonathan Alves is charged with being a felon in possession of ammunition. Romeo Miller also faces charges for being a felon in possession of ammunition. Jahleil Monteiro is charged as an accessory after the fact to Miller's offense.
Alves and Monteiro were arrested on the morning of February 11 and are scheduled to appear in federal court later that day. Miranda was previously convicted for involvement in a fentanyl distribution conspiracy linked to "Head Shot Mafia," a violent drug crew. He is currently detained for violating supervised release conditions related to the incident. Miller remains at large.
The incident occurred on June 2, 2024. Police responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 1:45 a.m., discovering numerous bullet casings at the scene and the victim suffering from her injuries. She was taken to hospital and survived.
Surveillance footage reportedly shows Miranda firing an automatic weapon during the altercation outside a house party. It allegedly captures Miller and Alves shooting towards the victim from different positions. The footage also shows Miller allegedly crossing the street to hide behind a car before shooting the victim again.
Court records indicate that at the time of this incident, Miranda was on federal supervised release following his conviction for fentanyl distribution conspiracy and had previous state convictions for cocaine distribution. Both Miller and Monteiro were on probation for prior firearm-related offenses among others, while Alves had prior drug-related convictions.
If convicted, those charged with being felons in possession face up to 15 years imprisonment along with fines and supervised release terms; possessing a machine gun carries up to ten years imprisonment; being an accessory after fact entails up to half the maximum punishment applicable for related crimes.
