Florida man convicted as unlawful alien with firearms possession

Markenzy Lapointe U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida

A man from Martin County, Florida, was found guilty by a federal jury in Fort Pierce for possessing firearms while being an unlawful alien. Adam Marc Twinley, aged 44 and originally from Palm City, entered the United States legally from the United Kingdom in 2013 on a visa intended for internationally recognized athletes and their support staff. However, he remained in the country after his visa expired at the end of that year.

In 2016, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) initiated removal proceedings against Twinley. These proceedings were still ongoing when authorities discovered him at a local gun range with several firearms in October 2023.

The announcement of Twinley's conviction was made by U.S. Attorney Hayden P. O’Byrne for the Southern District of Florida, Special Agent in Charge Christopher A. Robinson of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), Miami Field Division, and Interim Field Office Director Juan Agudelo of ICE's Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO).

The investigation into Twinley's case was conducted by the ATF West Palm Beach Field Office and ICE ERO.

Federal law prohibits unlawful aliens from possessing firearms within the United States.
