Amazon has opened a new corporate office in Singapore, marking the expansion of its presence in the region. The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Asia Pacific Hub was inaugurated by Dr. Janil Puthucheary, Senior Minister of State for Digital Development and Information. This facility is located at IOI Central Boulevard and aims to enhance agile working, learning, and collaboration as AWS grows its business in Southeast Asia.

The new office occupies over 360,000 square feet in IOI Central Boulevard’s East Tower and can accommodate up to 3,000 employees. It is Amazon's second corporate office in Singapore's Central Business District following the opening of Asia Square in 2021. Currently, Amazon employs more than 2,500 people across various functions in Singapore and plans to expand with over 100 job openings.

AWS has committed to investing an additional S$12 billion into its cloud infrastructure in Singapore from 2024 to 2028. This investment is expected to contribute S$23.7 billion to Singapore’s GDP by 2028 and support approximately 12,300 full-time equivalent jobs annually.

Jeff Johnson, Managing Director of ASEAN at AWS, stated: “AWS’s new regional office in Singapore represents our deepening commitment to Singapore and serves as a strategic hub for digital transformation across ASEAN.” He added that the launch marks Amazon’s 15th year in Singapore and reinforces its position as a leading technology hub.

The office spans eight floors and will house more than 100 teams supporting AWS and other corporate functions. It will also serve as a hub for digital transformation across the Asia-Pacific region. AWS customers and partners are invited to use the space for co-working sessions, innovation brainstorms, technical workshops, or networking events.

Key features of the new office include Amazon’s first Inclusion and Sustainability Gallery showcasing milestones such as climate action initiatives; AWS’s first flagship Executive Briefing Center in Asia; an upcoming AWS Asia-Pacific Innovation Hub set to open by Q3 this year; and an Amazon Candidate Experience Center designed for job seekers.

The workspace incorporates elements of Asian culture through vibrant graphics inspired by Amazon's Leadership Principles. Meeting rooms are named after Asian landmarks, adding a cultural touch while promoting customer obsession and long-term thinking.

Employees have access to amenities like Nespresso coffee machines, game tables including billiards and foosball, interactive game board walls for Scrabble or Chess competitions, breakout areas for discussions, large training rooms equipped with video-conferencing capabilities, height-adjustable desks for ergonomic comfort, individual lockers for personal items storage as well as quiet rooms spread across eight floors.
