This weekend, Joel Kaplan, Meta's Chief Global Affairs Officer, participated in the Munich Security Conference. He engaged with several global policymakers and took part in a panel discussion focused on revitalizing European competitiveness.
The panel included Luc Frieden, Prime Minister of Luxembourg; Franziska Brantner, Parliamentary State Secretary for Economic Affairs and Climate Action in Germany and Co-Chairwoman of Alliance 90/The Greens; and Manfred Weber, President of the European People’s Party and Chairman of the EPP Parliamentary Group in the European Parliament.
During the discussion, Kaplan emphasized "the socio-economic value open source AI creates," highlighting its significance. He stressed "why it’s vital that the US & EU work collaboratively to foster this," underlining the importance of cooperation between Western nations to lead in the global AI race.
