Susan T. Lehr, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the District of Nebraska
Rodrigo Marrufo-Pineda, a 34-year-old from Zitacuaro, Michoacan, Mexico, was sentenced to 46 months in federal prison for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. The sentencing took place on February 14, 2025, in Omaha, Nebraska. Chief United States District Court Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr. delivered the sentence. Marrufo-Pineda will face deportation to Mexico upon completing his prison term as he is not a U.S. citizen.
The charges stemmed from Marrufo-Pineda's role as a local courier for a methamphetamine supply source based in Mexico that serviced the Omaha and Council Bluffs, Iowa areas. His activities were uncovered when special agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation used a cooperating witness to purchase approximately one pound of meth from him on January 25, 2024.
Following his arrest, Marrufo-Pineda admitted in a post-arrest statement to distributing large quantities of methamphetamine in the Omaha area. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
Acting United States Attorney Matthew R. Molsen announced the sentencing.
