Troy Alexander Mendez, a 25-year-old resident of California, has been sentenced to 66 months in federal prison for distributing methamphetamine. The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Daniel Hanlon and Craig L. Tremaroli, Special Agent in Charge of the Albany Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Mendez admitted guilt to selling and shipping over 300 grams of methamphetamine via the U.S. Postal Service to a customer in Syracuse, New York, in August 2023. Law enforcement intercepted the package and identified Mendez as the source. Evidence presented at his sentencing hearing showed that Mendez had sold drugs on other occasions and possessed multiple firearms related to his drug activities.
Senior United States District Judge Glenn T. Suddaby also ordered a five-year term of supervised release following Mendez's prison sentence.
The case was investigated by the FBI with assistance from the New York State Police and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ben Gillis.
