The Computer & Communications Industry Association (CCIA) has provided input on the proposed United Nations Scientific Panel on AI and the Global Policy Dialogue on AI. These initiatives are being spearheaded by Spain and Costa Rica as part of an intergovernmental effort to align with the UN's Global Digital Compact.
According to CCIA, these new bodies present a chance to enhance international cooperation in AI research and governance. The association suggests that the multidisciplinary panel should focus on compiling and sharing existing research regarding both the opportunities and challenges associated with deploying AI solutions. This would aid in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
Furthermore, CCIA envisions the Policy Dialogue as a platform for exchanging global best practices and lessons learned in AI governance. It also aims to emphasize AI's beneficial effects on economic progress and development worldwide.
