On February 20, 2025, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin visited Flint, Michigan. The purpose of the visit was to engage with community members and assess the progress of new water infrastructure projects. "The Flint community has been working hard in close partnership with EPA, state officials and others to ensure the safety of their drinking water supply," said Zeldin. He emphasized that the EPA remains committed as Flint continues its recovery efforts.

After his time in Flint, Zeldin traveled to Ann Arbor, Michigan. There, he toured the National Vehicle and Fuel Emissions Laboratory (NVFEL) and met with staff members. The NVFEL is responsible for emissions testing on various engines for regulatory purposes. "Seeing the work NVFEL does up close was a great experience," noted Zeldin. He highlighted the dedication of EPA staff to their mission of ensuring clean air, land, and water.

Zeldin concluded his visit by participating in a roundtable discussion with business leaders from Michigan and representatives from the Michigan Chamber of Commerce. The focus was on how the Powering the Great American Comeback initiative could benefit Michigan. Jim Holcomb, President & CEO of the Michigan Chamber, expressed support for Zeldin's efforts: "We fully support his efforts to advance the EPA’s core mission of safeguarding human health and the environment."

Holcomb also emphasized collaboration with Zeldin's team to promote environmental stewardship through science-based policies while ensuring economic prosperity.
