Daniel Criswell Lee, a 55-year-old resident of Sumter, South Carolina, has been sentenced to 33 months in federal prison for his involvement in a wire fraud scheme. In addition to the prison term, Lee has been ordered to pay $2.8 million in restitution.
According to evidence from the investigation, Lee was employed as a project manager at Agile Infrastructure Service, LLC. In his role, he represented the company during the bidding process for government contracts. After securing projects for Agile, Lee diverted government payments meant for project work to corporations he controlled and used these funds for personal gain. The total amount misappropriated by Lee reached at least $2.8 million.
United States District Court Judge Sherri A. Lydon imposed a sentence of 33 months imprisonment on Lee, which will be followed by three years of court-ordered supervision. Additionally, there is no parole available within the federal system.
The investigation into this case was conducted by the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division (DACID) and the Department of Defense's Office of the Inspector General, Defense Criminal Investigative Service, Charleston Resident Agency. The prosecution is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney John Potterfield.
