U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has detained Mark Adrian Vicars, a 58-year-old UK citizen, following his release from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York. Vicars was apprehended on February 21 for being illegally present in the United States after serving time for impersonating a U.S. Federal Air Marshal and other offenses.
"Vicars not only dishonored our federal law enforcement community and violated our nation’s immigration laws, but he posed a clear and present threat to the community’s safety being heavily armed with illegal weapons," stated William P. Joyce, acting Field Office Director of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in New York City. "Anyone who illegally arrives in our U.S. cities to cause havoc on our streets is a prime target for removal from our nation."
Currently held without bond at the Batavia Federal Detention Facility, Vicars awaits deportation proceedings.
In September 2017, Nassau County Court sentenced Vicars to concurrent prison terms for multiple firearm-related offenses. He received six years imprisonment plus five years of post-release supervision for criminal possession of weapons and loaded firearms; an additional six years imprisonment with five years post-release supervision for possession of five or more firearms; and one year imprisonment for possessing a forged instrument.
Later, on October 23, 2024, he was sentenced to four months imprisonment followed by two years supervised release due to making false statements on a passport application.
The public is encouraged to report crimes or suspicious activities by calling 866-347-2423 or using ICE's online tip form.
