U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Dallas has deported Pedro Bailon, a 36-year-old Mexican national, following his conviction for second-degree murder. Bailon was returned to Mexico on February 12 and handed over to Mexican authorities without any issues.

"Violent criminal aliens, like this one have no place in our communities," stated Josh Johnson, acting Field Office Director of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in Dallas. "His disregard for our nation’s immigration laws coupled with the violence he perpetrated is unconscionable, demanding his immediate removal."

Bailon initially entered the United States near San Ysidro, California without inspection on August 21, 1995. He was later arrested by the Wichita Police Department in Kansas for first-degree murder on March 8, 2007. The Sedgwick County District Court in Wichita convicted him of second-degree murder on July 2, 2008, sentencing him to an 18-year prison term.

ICE identified Bailon as removable under the Immigration and Nationality Act while he was at the Ellsworth Correctional Facility in Kansas on August 21, 2008. A notice of intent to issue a final administrative removal order was served to Bailon on February 7.

The public can report crimes and suspicious activities by calling 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423) or completing an online tip form.
