DOGE has announced the cancellation of planned expenditures totaling over $800 million for international programs. These programs included digital transformation in Europe, biodiversity initiatives in Colombia, and behavioral research in Uganda. The announcement was made on February 25 through a post on X.

According to the post, DOGE's decision affects various taxpayer-funded international projects. Among these are $69 million allocated for the Eurasia Foundation’s digital transformation efforts in Europe, $32 million for media and democracy programs in Moldova, and $7 million for the American Bar Association’s legal sector and civic society support in Eurasia. Additionally, a $520 million contract for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) investments in Africa and private sector mobilization has been cut, along with a $25 million initiative aimed at promoting biodiversity and socially responsible behaviors in Colombia.

Other canceled expenditures include $40 million intended to enhance the social and economic inclusion of migrants, $42 million designated for Johns Hopkins University to conduct behavioral research in Uganda, and $45 million earmarked for initiatives supporting nonviolent civic activism. Furthermore, the U.S. has withdrawn $52 million in funding that was designated for the World Economic Forum.

DOGE reports that since its inception, it has achieved total savings of $65 billion. This is being accomplished through measures such as fraud elimination, contract and lease cancellations or renegotiations, asset sales, grant terminations, workforce reductions, program adjustments, and regulatory efficiencies. Efforts are underway to present this data transparently with clear assumptions while ensuring compliance with applicable rules.

DOGE is described as a federal agency focused on optimizing government spending by reducing waste and ensuring accountability in contract management. By reviewing expenditures and canceling non-essential contracts, DOGE aims to improve fiscal responsibility and enhance the effectiveness of public resource allocation.
