A Metairie man, Robert Anthony Marsh Jr., 59, has been indicted on charges related to the possession of materials involving the sexual exploitation of minors and violating the Federal Gun Control Act. Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson announced that Marsh was indicted on February 14, 2025.
The charges against Marsh include possession of materials involving the sexual exploitation of minors, under Title 18, United States Code, Section 2252(a)(4)(B) and (a)(2), and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 922(g)(1) and 924(a)(8). If found guilty of possessing materials related to child exploitation, Marsh could face a minimum sentence of ten years and up to twenty years imprisonment. He may also incur a fine up to $250,000, supervised release ranging from five years to life, and a mandatory special assessment fee of $100. For firearm possession by a convicted felon, he faces up to fifteen years in prison along with similar fines and assessments.
Court documents reveal that Marsh's residence was searched by state law enforcement officials and federal agents on December 19, 2024. At this time, he was under state supervised release for an earlier conviction involving juvenile pornography. Following the search on December 19th, Marsh was arrested by Louisiana State Probation and Parole for illegal firearm possession and child pornography charges. Subsequently, he was transferred from state custody to federal custody for this indictment.
Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson emphasized that "the indictment is merely a charge" requiring proof beyond reasonable doubt for conviction.
