Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent has announced several key appointments for senior positions at the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
Tyler Badgley will take on the role of Executive Secretary. His previous experience includes serving as a Senior Counsel at the U.S. Chamber Litigation Center and working as an Associate at Sullivan & Cromwell. He also served as Special Counsel for Senator Chuck Grassley on the Senate Judiciary Committee, contributing to Justice Kavanaugh's confirmation to the Supreme Court. Badgley is an alumnus of the University of Virginia, holding both a BA and JD.
Julia Hahn has been appointed Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs. Her background includes serving as Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications for Senator Bill Hagerty and various roles in President Trump's first White House administration, such as Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy White House Communications Director. Hahn's media experience extends to being Executive Producer of The Laura Ingraham Show and reporting at Breitbart News. She holds a BA in Philosophy from the University of Chicago.
Brian Morrissey is nominated by President Trump to serve as General Counsel at the Department of the Treasury. Currently a partner at Sidley Austin LLP, Morrissey has previously held roles such as Deputy General Counsel for the Treasury Department during Trump's first term and senior positions within the Department of Justice. His legal career includes clerking for Justice Clarence Thomas and Judge Diarmuid O’Scannlain. Morrissey graduated with a BA from College of the Holy Cross and earned his JD from Notre Dame Law School.
Jillian Wyant will serve as White House Liaison, bringing nearly 15 years of Capitol Hill experience to her new role. Most recently, she was Chief of Staff to Congressman Matt Gaetz, where she influenced his media presence and campaign strategy. Wyant also worked in senior roles with Senator Rand Paul during his 2016 Presidential Campaign. She is a graduate of Concordia University Irvine and was recognized twice as an All-American in volleyball.
John York is appointed by President Trump as Assistant Secretary for Management at the Department of Treasury. Previously, Dr. York was a management consultant with Accenture Federal Services, collaborating with government agencies on efficiency improvements and technology deployment initiatives during Trump's first term at OPM (Office Personnel Management). His academic credentials include a BA from Kenyon College and a PhD from University Virginia; he also served aboard USCGC Mellon while partaking in U.S Coast Guard duties named after Andrew Mellon—former Secretary-Treasury honoree.
