Mobile man sentenced to over eight years for cocaine trafficking

Sean P. Costello U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Alabama

On February 18, 2025, United States District Court Judge William H. Steele sentenced Sheldon Terrell Peters to a total of 105 months in prison for cocaine trafficking. The sentence includes 75 months for possession with the intent to distribute cocaine and an additional 30 months for violating supervised release conditions from a previous conviction in 2017 related to methamphetamine distribution.

Court documents reveal that between September and October 2022, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Violent Crimes Task Force utilized an undercover informant to conduct three controlled purchases from Peters at his residence in Mobile. These transactions involved quantities of crack cocaine amounting to 47.5 grams, 46.3 grams, and 105.6 grams.

The investigation was carried out by the FBI in collaboration with the Mobile County Sheriff's Office. Assistant United States Attorney George F. May prosecuted the case.
