Pentagon mandates removal of DEI-related content from DoD platforms

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

In accordance with directives from President Trump's Executive Orders and Secretary Hegseth, the Pentagon has issued a memorandum for a digital content refresh across all Department of Defense (DoD) public platforms. The memorandum requires that by March 5, 2025, all components must remove and archive DoD news articles, photos, and videos related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). This includes content concerning critical race theory, gender ideology, and identity-based programs.

The Defense Media Activity (DMA) will assist in systematically removing content from DVIDS and AFPIMS platforms. However, each component is responsible for ensuring compliance across their digital properties. A public acknowledgment of the content removal should be posted on social media and other platforms.

Requests for exceptions or extensions must be submitted before noon on March 5, 2025. A link to the memorandum is available for reference.
