Dominican national charged with illegal reentry into US

Joshua S. Levy, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts

A Dominican man, Danny Miguel Tejada Hernandez, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Boston for unlawfully reentering the United States after deportation. The 29-year-old faces one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien. Currently in custody, Tejada Hernandez will be arraigned in federal court in Boston at a later date.

The indictment states that Tejada Hernandez was previously deported in August 2021. It is alleged that he unlawfully returned to the United States sometime after his removal. The charge carries a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. Following any imposed sentence, the defendant is subject to deportation.

Sentences are determined by a federal district court judge based on the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and relevant statutes governing criminal cases.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica Soto from the Major Crimes Unit is handling the prosecution.

It is important to note that all details within the charging documents are allegations, and Tejada Hernandez remains presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
