A Harrisburg man, Kyle Malik Jones, has been sentenced to over 13 years in prison for drug trafficking offenses. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania confirmed that Jones, aged 33, received a sentence of 160 months from United States District Court Judge Jennifer P. Wilson on February 25, 2025. His charges included the distribution of fentanyl and methamphetamine.
Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus detailed the circumstances leading to Jones's arrest. On March 17, 2021, Susquehanna Township Police discovered a stolen vehicle parked at a hotel parking lot. After the car alarm was triggered, Jones emerged from his hotel room to turn it off. Police arrested him for vehicle theft and subsequently searched his room where they found substantial quantities of drugs and other items: "731 grams of methamphetamine; 221 grams of fentanyl; cocaine; a Ruger .40 caliber pistol with an obliterated serial number; a Hi-Point .380 caliber firearm; approximately $7,635 in cash; one pack of 300 small rubber bands; one digital scale; and two cell phones."
Jones admitted guilt on March 11, 2024, to possession with intent to distribute controlled substances.
The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement and communities. On May 26, 2021, the Department launched an enhanced strategy focusing on fostering community trust and supporting organizations that prevent violence.
The investigation involved both the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Susquehanna Township Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys David C. Williams and Jeffrey St. John were responsible for prosecuting the case.
