CBP officers at the Calexico West Port of Entry recently intercepted a vehicle carrying multiple types of narcotics. The incident took place on February 18 when a 20-year-old male attempted to enter the United States from Mexico in a blue sedan. Following an initial inspection, the driver and vehicle were sent for further examination.

During secondary screening, non-intrusive inspection technology detected irregularities. A CBP K-9 team then conducted an inspection and signaled the presence of drugs. Officers subsequently found 36 packages hidden in the vehicle's floor. Testing confirmed that four packages contained Fentanyl, three had Cocaine, two held Heroin, and 27 were filled with Methamphetamine, totaling 47 pounds.

Port Director Roque Caza commented on the situation: “Smugglers are continuously devising intricate plans to avoid detection, yet our CBP officers have a remarkable ability for adjusting, predicting, and ultimately exposing even the most sophisticated strategies.” He praised his team for their efforts in preventing harmful narcotics from entering the country.

The individuals involved were arrested and handed over to Homeland Security Investigations for further inquiry. The seized narcotics, along with ammunition and vehicles, remain in CBP custody.

This operation underscores CBP's commitment to combating drug trafficking by intercepting illegal substances before they reach communities. Through ongoing vigilance and strategic enforcement actions, CBP aims to protect public safety and hold traffickers accountable.
