Vanessa Roberts Avery, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut
Marc H. Silverman, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, and Stephen P. Belleau, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration for New England, announced the arrest of Daqwon Graham, also known as "Seagull" and "Energy," a 30-year-old resident of Ansonia. Graham was apprehended on February 26, 2025, in Stamford following a federal criminal complaint charging him with fentanyl trafficking offenses.
According to court documents and statements made in court, Graham was identified by the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Bridgeport High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force and Stamford Police Department as a significant fentanyl distributor in Fairfield County. Investigators linked his activities to two overdose deaths: one male victim in Branford in March 2023 and one female victim in Shelton in October 2024. In early 2025, authorities conducted multiple controlled purchases of fentanyl from Graham.
Graham's arrest took place on High Ridge Road in Stamford where he allegedly possessed around 400 grams of fentanyl at that time. He subsequently appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge S. Dave Vatti in Bridgeport and was ordered detained.
The charges against Graham include possession with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl, which carries a mandatory minimum imprisonment term of five years and could extend up to 40 years. Additionally, he is charged with using a communications device to facilitate a drug trafficking felony, carrying a maximum imprisonment term of four years.
Acting U.S. Attorney Silverman emphasized that the complaint is merely an accusation and not proof of guilt. He stated that charges are only allegations until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
The investigation is being handled by the DEA’s Bridgeport HIDTA Task Force with involvement from various local police departments including those from Bridgeport, Danbury, Norwalk, Stamford, Stratford as well as the Connecticut State Police. The case prosecution is led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lauren C. Clark.
