Bill Owens, a seasoned remodeler and home builder from Worthington, Ohio, has been elected as the 2025 first vice chairman of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). The announcement was made during the association’s International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas.

Owens is the founder and principal of Owens Construction, a residential design/build firm based in central Ohio. Established in 1982, the company focuses on integrating energy-efficient technology with welcoming home environments and completes between 30 to 40 projects annually.

"This year, we will seek to ease the nation’s housing affordability crisis by urging policymakers to remove regulatory barriers that harm small businesses and raise housing and remodeling costs," said Owens. "We will also work with the Trump administration and Congress to adopt practical workforce development and immigration policies that will help our industry address a severe labor shortage that is delaying home building and remodeling projects."

Owens has been involved with NAHB leadership at various levels for decades. He currently serves as a senior life delegate of the NAHB Leadership Council and has been part of its Board of Directors for over 20 years. His national roles have included Chairman positions at several councils within NAHB, including Remodelers Council, Home Builders Institute, and Leading Suppliers Council.

Locally, Owens served on the Building Industry Association of Central Ohio's Board of Trustees from 1998 to 2005. He was named Remodeler of the Year multiple times and Builder of the Year in 2009. At the state level, he has been active with the Ohio Home Builders Association since 1999.

In addition to his professional commitments, Owens participates in Harvard University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies Remodeling Futures Program. He holds several certifications related to remodeling and sustainable building practices.

Education remains a priority for Owens as he dedicates time to professional development initiatives like workforce development programs at events such as the International Builders’ Show. His educational focus extended into his leadership role at the Home Builders Institute where he chaired its Board of Trustees in 2010.

Owens works alongside his wife Betsy who is now president of their business. Together they contribute actively to their community.

NAHB’s newly elected senior officers follow a multi-year leadership progression which will see Owens assume chairmanship of NAHB’s Board of Directors in 2026.
