Matthew M. Graves U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia
Deangelo Lorenzo Lewis, a 28-year-old resident of Washington D.C., was convicted on charges including unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, conspiracy to commit bank fraud, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. U.S. District Judge Loren L. AliKhan has set the sentencing for May 30, 2025.
The conviction announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin, Jr., United States Marshal Robert A. Dixon, and FBI Special Agent in Charge Sean T. Ryan from the FBI Washington Field Office Criminal and Cyber Division.
Court documents reveal that Deputy U.S. Marshals apprehended Lewis on October 3, 2023, at an apartment he rented using a stolen identity. During their operation, they found over $150,000 worth of checks believed to be stolen from the U.S. mail, alongside a check printer and blank check stock. The search also uncovered driver’s licenses and social security cards not belonging to Lewis.
Further inspection led to the discovery of a Century Arms Micro Draco 7.62 x 39mm semi-automatic assault pistol loaded with 26 rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber, two 9mm handgun magazines, and approximately one and a half pounds of marijuana prepared for distribution.
The investigation was carried out by the United States Marshals Service with support from the FBI’s Washington Field Office. Assistant U.S. Attorneys James B. Nelson, Justin F. Song, Jacqueline O. Yarbro along with Paralegal Specialist Jenna Lee are prosecuting the case.
