A Dominican national residing in Lawrence, Massachusetts, has been arrested for his alleged role in a drug trafficking organization distributing fentanyl and methamphetamine. Leury Then Rosario, 33, faces charges of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute significant quantities of these drugs. His arrest on February 25, 2025, followed an investigation into a North Shore-based drug operation reportedly supplied by the Sinaloa Cartel.
United States Attorney Leah B. Foley commented on the case: “The alleged discovery of this defendant’s hidden trap wall concealing a stockpile of narcotics and weapons lays bare the dangerous reality of drug trafficking today: fentanyl and methamphetamine are flooding our communities, protected by deadly firepower.” She emphasized the commitment to dismantling criminal networks.
Stephen Belleau, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration's New England Field Division, stated: “Those who choose to distribute fentanyl, especially fake pills containing the drug, endanger their customers as well as the general public.”
Massachusetts State Police Colonel Geoffrey Noble highlighted the collaborative effort in this operation: “This arrest...is a culmination of a complex investigation by local, state and federal partners.”
Court documents reveal that following Rosario's arrest, search warrants were executed at his residence and an alleged stash location in Lawrence. The stash site purportedly operated as a multiservice business but concealed drug processing equipment and firearms. A hidden closet was discovered containing counterfeit pills, suspected fentanyl, cocaine, cutting agents, pill presses, firearms including ghost guns without serial numbers, and an AR-15 style rifle.
The charge against Rosario carries severe penalties including up to life imprisonment and substantial fines. The defendant is also subject to deportation upon completion of any sentence imposed.
This case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) Strike Force Initiative aimed at disrupting high-level criminal organizations through multi-agency collaboration.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles Dell’Anno is prosecuting the case with support from several local police departments.
Rosario remains presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
