Timothy T. Duax U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Iowa
Shannon Ivory, a 43-year-old resident of Sioux City, Iowa, has been sentenced to 125 months in federal prison following his guilty plea to four counts of possession with intent to distribute controlled substances. The sentencing took place on February 27, 2025.
The case against Ivory began when he was arrested by federal agents on March 20, 2023, as a fugitive facing charges in the State of Iowa. During the arrest, authorities discovered various illegal drugs packaged for distribution. These included over 26 grams of pure methamphetamine, more than 15 grams of crack cocaine, over 4 grams of powder cocaine, and 25 morphine pills. Ivory confessed to possessing these drugs with the intention to distribute them.
United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand presided over the sentencing hearing. In addition to his prison term, Ivory will be subject to a five-year period of supervised release once he completes his sentence. It is noted that there is no parole option available within the federal system. Currently, Ivory remains in custody under the United States Marshal's supervision until he is transferred to a federal prison.
