U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has removed a Honduran national, Rene Alejandro Rosales-Vindel, who was illegally present in the United States and is wanted in Honduras for homicide. ICE officers from Boston returned Rosales to Honduras on February 3, where he was handed over to local authorities.
"Rene Alejandro Rosales-Vindel attempted to flee justice in his home country and hide out in the United States," stated Patricia H. Hyde, acting Field Office Director of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston. "Not only did he break our immigration laws, but he also assaulted a resident of Massachusetts. Now he is back in Honduras to answer the charges against him. We will not allow our New England communities to become safe havens for the world’s criminals. ICE Boston will continue to prioritize public safety by arresting and removing illegal alien offenders."
Rosales was initially arrested by U.S. Border Patrol on March 28, 2014, after entering the United States illegally and was placed into immigration proceedings. He was released on May 5, 2014, after paying an immigration bond.
ICE Boston officers arrested him again on August 30, 2017, following his arrest for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in Massachusetts. At that time, ICE cancelled his bond and detained him to continue immigration proceedings.
On October 11, 2017, a Department of Justice immigration judge ordered Rosales' removal from the United States to Honduras. Despite this order, Rosales was released under supervision on May 25, 2018. The day after his release, he was convicted by Chelsea District Court for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
ICE Boston revoked Rosales' supervised release and arrested him once more on November 23, 2024.
