Nicholas D. Plumb, a 25-year-old resident of Oak Hill, has pleaded guilty to federal drug charges in Beckley, West Virginia. The charges include possession with intent to distribute over five grams of methamphetamine and a quantity of fentanyl.
Court documents reveal that on August 23, 2023, law enforcement apprehended Plumb at an apartment in Prosperity. Officers discovered 45 grams of fentanyl, 144 grams of methamphetamine, and a Glock model 43X 9mm handgun in his possession. Plumb admitted his intention to distribute the controlled substances.
Further developments occurred on July 31, 2024, when officers arrested Plumb again and searched his residence. During this search, they found 557 grams of methamphetamine. Plumb confessed that he intended to distribute this substance as well.
Plumb's sentencing is scheduled for July 25, 2025. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years and up to forty years in prison. Additionally, he could receive at least four years of supervised release and be fined up to $5 million.
Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston announced the plea and praised the investigative efforts of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) along with the Raleigh County Sheriff's Office.
The hearing was overseen by United States Magistrate Judge Omar J. Aboulhosn. Assistant United States Attorney Andrew D. Isabell is handling the prosecution.
