Boston man pleads guilty to fentanyl distribution while awaiting murder trial

Joshua S. Levy, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts

A Boston man has admitted guilt in a federal court to distributing fentanyl. The individual is also facing murder charges in a Massachusetts state court.

Csean Skerritt, known by aliases "Shizz Grimmy" and "Black," aged 36, confessed to distributing 40 grams or more of fentanyl. U.S. District Court Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton has set the sentencing date for June 6, 2025. Skerritt was indicted by a federal grand jury in March 2023.

During a drug trafficking investigation on February 1, 2023, Skerritt agreed to sell 50 grams of fentanyl for $1,500. After coordinating through various communications, he met with the buyer at an arranged location and exchanged approximately 52.3 grams of fentanyl for the agreed amount.

Skerritt was also indicted for murder on March 9, 2023, in the Massachusetts Superior Court and is awaiting trial.

The charge related to fentanyl distribution carries a potential sentence ranging from five to forty years in prison, with at least four years of supervised release and fines up to $5 million. Sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge according to U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and relevant statutes.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley; Jodi Cohen, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's Boston Division; Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox; and Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden. Assistant U.S. Attorney John T. Dawley from the Organized Crime & Gang Unit is handling the prosecution.
