Clifford D. Johnson, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Indiana
Elijah Shores, a 30-year-old resident of Irving, Texas, has been sentenced to over 16 years in prison by Chief Judge Holly A. Brady of the United States District Court. The sentencing follows Shores' guilty plea to charges of distributing fentanyl, possessing fentanyl with intent to distribute, and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. This was announced by Acting United States Attorney Tina L. Nommay.
In addition to his prison sentence, Shores will also undergo four years of supervised release after completing his term. The investigation into this case was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with assistance from both the Indiana State Police and the Fort Wayne Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Lesley J. Miller Lowery prosecuted the case.
This prosecution is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative that aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and community organizations. The Department's strategy for PSN focuses on fostering trust within communities, supporting organizations that prevent violence, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes.
