Securing the borders of the United States is deemed crucial for enhancing national safety and prosperity. In a recent announcement, a new visa restriction policy has been introduced targeting foreign government officials who are believed to facilitate illegal immigration into the U.S. This includes officials from immigration and customs, airport and port authorities, as well as others who fail to enforce immigration laws or establish policies that aid illegal transit through the U.S. southwest border.
The policy is designed to work alongside the existing 3C policy, which was expanded in 2024. The 3C policy targets private sector actors who provide transportation and travel services primarily for illegal immigrants heading to the United States.
The measures will remain in place until responsible officials ensure that effective policies are implemented and current laws enforced to prevent such transit. "America will not back down when it comes to defending our national security interests," stated an official source.
This visa restriction falls under Section 212(a)(3)(C) of the Immigration and Nationality Act. It allows the Secretary of State to deem any alien inadmissible if their entry could have serious adverse foreign policy consequences for the U.S. Certain family members may also be affected by these restrictions.
