U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Port of Ogdensburg have apprehended a Canadian citizen for alleged importation of controlled substances. The incident occurred on February 28 when Raphael Leblond-Lacroix, 32, was stopped while entering the United States in a commercial vehicle.
Upon referral to cargo secondary for further inspection, CBP officers searched the truck cab and discovered a large bag containing approximately 130 pills. Additional containers and bags of marijuana, weighing about one pound, were also found. Subsequent testing confirmed the presence of marijuana and methamphetamine.
Tom Trimboli, Ogdensburg Port Director, stated, “I am proud of the commitment and dedication of our officers as they continue to keep our country and communities safe from these dangerous drugs.”
Following his arrest, Leblond-Lacroix was processed by CBP officers and handed over to Homeland Security Investigations. He is facing prosecution for felony Importation of Controlled Substances under 21 USC 952 by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Northern District of New York.
The charges against Leblond-Lacroix are accusations; he remains presumed innocent until proven guilty.
