Terrell Bell, a 27-year-old resident of Schenectady, New York, has admitted guilt in a case involving the possession of fentanyl with the intent to distribute. The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Daniel Hanlon and Craig L. Tremaroli, Special Agent in Charge of the Albany Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
The investigation began when law enforcement conducted a search of Bell's residence in January 2024 while he was on parole. During this search, authorities found nearly 1,800 fentanyl pills in his bedroom and over $90,000 scattered throughout the home.
Bell is scheduled for sentencing on July 9, 2025. He faces a potential prison sentence ranging from a minimum of five years to a maximum of forty years. Additionally, he could be fined up to $5 million and may face supervised release for a period between four years and life following imprisonment. The final sentence will be determined by a judge based on statutory guidelines and other relevant factors. Bell has also agreed to forfeit the currency seized during the search.
The FBI led the investigation with support from the Schenectady Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mikayla Espinosa is handling the prosecution.
