Defendants sentenced in Charlotte court for federal firearms violations

Multiple defendants were sentenced in federal court for firearms violations, according to Lawrence J. Cameron, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina. The cases involved illegal firearms linked to various shootings.

“These sentences make one thing clear: if you violate federal gun laws, you will be held accountable. This office and our law enforcement partners are committed to getting illegal guns off the streets and out of the hands of criminals,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Cameron.

Omar Shariff Tobias, 46, received a 13-year prison sentence for possession of a firearm by a felon after shooting a victim with an illegally possessed revolver.

Marcus Kantrell Jennings, 35, was sentenced to 10 years for possessing a firearm as a felon and using it to shoot at a security officer.

Brandon Castro, 25, received 57 months for pointing a firearm at an off-duty police officer before fleeing the scene.

Jeconiah Amarie Davidson, 25, was sentenced to 52 months for being a felon in possession of a firearm used in two separate shootings.

Tiquavion Davonta Ervin, 21, received 46 months for possessing a machinegun and using social media to sell firearms.

Geoffrey Quentin McLean, 34, was sentenced to 30 months for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon found during a search.

Ronetae Antonion Degraffenreid, 40, received 24 months for dealing in firearms without a license after purchasing over 76 firearms between 2018 and 2022.

Nehemiah Malik Harris, 27, was sentenced to 18 months for possession of a stolen firearm found during a traffic stop.
