The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), a prominent small business advocacy group, has expressed strong opposition to the Richard L. Trumka Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act of 2025. The organization sent letters to leaders of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, and the House Committee on Education and the Workforce.
According to NFIB, this legislation could significantly alter long-standing employment laws in favor of labor unions, potentially harming small businesses and American workers. Dylan Rosnick, NFIB Principal of Federal Government Relations, stated: "The PRO Act is anti-worker, anti-free choice, and anti-small business." He further explained that it includes several policies opposed by small business owners and previously dismissed by courts and Congress.
NFIB urges Congress to reject the legislation to protect small business owners from increased labor costs and regulations. The full letters addressed to Chairman Bill Cassidy (R-LA), Ranking Member Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Chairman Tim Walberg (R-MI), and Ranking Member Bobby Scott (D-VA) are available for review.
For 80 years, NFIB has advocated for America's small businesses in Washington D.C. and across all state capitals. The nonprofit organization remains dedicated to supporting independent businesses since its founding in 1943.
