Rep. Bryan Steil expressed his readiness to work with President Trump to position the United States as a "leader in digital assets." He conveyed this intention in a post on X dated March 7, 2025.

"Ready to work with President Trump to make the U.S. a leader in digital assets," said Bryan Steil, Representative.

According to the White House, President Donald J. Trump signed an Executive Order on March 6, 2025, establishing a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and U.S. Digital Asset Stockpile. The reserve will treat bitcoin as a reserve asset, capitalized with forfeited bitcoin from criminal or civil asset forfeiture. Additionally, the U.S. Digital Asset Stockpile will hold other digital assets from similar forfeiture proceedings. The U.S. government will not acquire more assets for the stockpile beyond forfeiture and aims to manage and secure these digital assets through oversight by the Department of Treasury.

The Executive Order aims to centralize and manage digital assets within the federal government, addressing gaps in handling cryptocurrencies seized by various agencies. The U.S. seeks to optimize its position in the global financial system by treating bitcoin as a store of value and preventing premature sales that have cost taxpayers over $17 billion. According to the White House, this initiative is part of President Trump's goal to establish the U.S. as a leader in digital assets and strengthen its position in the global cryptocurrency sector.

Steil was appointed to lead the Financial Services Subcommittee on Digital Assets, Financial Technology, and Artificial Intelligence in the 119th Congress by House Financial Services Chairman French Hill (AR-02). He previously served on the Subcommittee on Digital Assets, Financial Technology, and Inclusion in the 118th Congress and is currently serving his fourth term on the Financial Services Committee. The subcommittee will oversee matters such as digital assets, cryptocurrencies, stable assets, central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), financial technology (fintech), mobile device transactions, and artificial intelligence technologies.

Bryan Steil represents Wisconsin's First Congressional District. He oversees federal election law, House operations, and Capitol Security as Chairman of the Committee on House Administration. Steil previously served as Ranking Member of the Select Committee on the Economy.
