Governor Phil Murphy and Princeton University President Christopher L. Eisgruber have announced that Microsoft and CoreWeave will join as founding partners in the NJ AI Hub. This initiative aims to create a collaborative ecosystem focused on research, innovation, education, and workforce development in artificial intelligence.
The NJ AI Hub is set to be located at 619 Alexander Road in West Windsor, New Jersey, along Route 1, known as the state's innovation corridor. Governor Murphy expressed pride in this partnership, stating it positions New Jersey as a hub for AI innovation and talent. "AI’s economic and innovation potential is vast," he said, highlighting the opportunity for high-paying jobs and a prosperous future.
President Eisgruber emphasized the collaboration between government, higher education, and the corporate sector. He looks forward to other colleges joining this effort. Brad Smith of Microsoft noted that leveraging private sector strengths with those of Princeton and New Jersey aims to build a thriving regional AI economy.
Brian Venturo from CoreWeave highlighted the collaboration's potential for groundbreaking AI innovation. "Together, we’re advancing the future of technology while driving meaningful economic growth," he said.
Tim Sullivan from the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) stated that this initiative aligns with Governor Murphy’s vision for cultivating high-growth sectors. The NJEDA plans to invest significantly alongside other partners to support the Hub's long-term success.
The NJ AI Hub will focus on three main areas: research and development across various industry sectors; commercializing and accelerating innovation through an AI accelerator; and strengthening AI education and workforce development by collaborating with educational institutions.
