U.S. Representative Ralph Norman (R-SC) said that the current Continuing Resolution in Congress represents an "opportunity to drain the swamp and freeze spending levels." Norman made this remark in a March 10 post on X.

"We've never had this much transparency and a direct means of finding waste, fraud, and abuse throughout the federal government," said Rep. Ralph Norman, R-SC 5th District. "This CR allows Republicans an opportunity to DRAIN the swamp and FREEZE spending levels!!"

According to The Hill, House Democrats in districts won by President Trump face a challenging decision next week when Republicans introduce a partisan government funding bill or Continuing Resolution (CR). If they support the CR, they would contradict their party’s stance; however, if they oppose it, Republicans are likely to accuse them of supporting a government shutdown.

The CR is a government funding bill introduced by House Republicans to maintain government operations through September 30. It proposes cuts to non-defense programs while increasing defense funding. The Hill reports that the bill is viewed as a partisan effort since it was drafted without Democratic input, leading to opposition from Democratic leaders. They argue that the bill "threatens to cut funding for healthcare, nutritional assistance and veterans benefits through the end of the current fiscal year."

President Trump expressed his support for the bill on X, stating, "The House and Senate have put together, under the circumstances, a very good funding Bill ('CR')! All Republicans should vote (Please!) YES next week."

U.S. Rep. Ralph Norman is a Republican Congressman representing South Carolina's 5th District. According to his Congressional website, he has been in office since 2017.
