Sequoyah County man sentenced to prison for arson

The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma has reported that Trevor Scott McGuire, a 24-year-old resident of Muldrow, Oklahoma, received a sentence of 57 months in prison for committing arson in Indian Country.

The incident was investigated by the Muldrow Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. On October 2, 2024, McGuire admitted his guilt to the charge. According to investigators, on May 26, 2024, he filled a gallon milk jug with gasoline at a gas station. He then proceeded to a residence in Muldrow where he poured gasoline in the kitchen and set it ablaze. McGuire later confessed to starting the fire during a phone conversation with the home's owner.

The offense took place in Sequoyah County within the Cherokee Nation Reservation boundaries in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

Chief U.S. District Judge Ronald A. White presided over the case at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. McGuire will remain under U.S. Marshals Service custody until he is transferred to a designated facility managed by the United States Bureau of Prisons to serve his non-paroleable sentence.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin Gross represented the government in this case.
