U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Port of Massena in New York recently intercepted a vehicle carrying two Canadian citizens found with narcotics and drug paraphernalia. The incident occurred on March 8, when officers encountered Alexander Herbert, a 35-year-old male, and Logan Mackenzie Dyer-Charlebois, a 28-year-old female.
The initial inspection revealed that both individuals lacked proper travel identification, prompting CBP officers to conduct a secondary examination. During this process, the identities of Herbert and Dyer-Charlebois were confirmed. A subsequent vehicle inspection uncovered several bags containing substances that tested positive for cocaine, totaling approximately 41 grams.
Massena Port Director Robert Dwyer commended the efforts of his team: “Our CBP officers work tirelessly, night and day, to stop dangerous drugs from entering the country,” he stated. “Their commitment to upholding public safety cannot be understated.”
Following their arrest by CBP officers, Herbert and Dyer-Charlebois were handed over to New York State Police. They now face multiple felony and misdemeanor charges related to narcotics possession.
CBP describes itself as America's frontline agency responsible for border management. With over 65,000 personnel, it is tasked with protecting the United States on land, air, and sea while facilitating safe travel and trade.
