U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), in collaboration with Norfolk Southern Railroad Federal Police, the U.S. Marshals Service, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, conducted a targeted enforcement operation in Charlotte on February 6, 2025. The operation resulted in the arrest of five illegal aliens.
The initiative aimed to enhance the safety of freight trains and their crews traveling through Charlotte. There have been increased reports of gang-affiliated individuals on rail tracks engaging in activities that threaten citizens and railway employees, including selling narcotics and trespassing.
All arrested individuals face administrative charges and are currently held in ICE custody pending removal proceedings.
ICE emphasizes its focus on public safety and national security threats. Individuals found illegally present in the United States during such operations may be detained and processed for removal according to legal provisions.
