A Guatemalan national, Jorge Martinez-Urizar, has been sentenced in U.S. District Court in Portland for reentering the United States after a previous removal. U.S. District Judge Nancy Torresen sentenced Martinez-Urizar, 50, to time served. He had been detained since November and is expected to face deportation following the conclusion of his case.

Martinez-Urizar pleaded guilty on February 5, 2025. According to court records, a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent conducted a records check on him in November 2024. The check revealed that he had been removed from the country three times before, with the most recent removal occurring in July 2005. Additionally, it was found that he had not filed any applications or petitions allowing him to lawfully reenter or remain in the United States.

Martinez was previously removed in 2005 after serving a 70-month sentence in Oregon for assault in the second degree and unlawful use of a weapon. ICE investigated this case.
