A Texas man has admitted to a felony charge after hiding in a lavatory on a Delta Airlines flight, seeking a free trip from Salt Lake City International Airport to Austin, Texas. Wicliff Yves Fleurizard, 26, from Leander, Texas, was indicted in April 2024.
Court documents and statements made during the plea hearing revealed that in March 2024, Fleurizard boarded Delta Airlines flight #1683 without authorization. Surveillance footage captured him taking photos of passengers' phones or boarding passes before using his phone as a boarding pass to board the plane. Fleurizard did not purchase a ticket for the flight.
His actions led to the aircraft returning to the gate after it had already pushed away. Law enforcement met Fleurizard upon return and took him into custody.
Fleurizard is set for sentencing on May 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., before a U.S. District Court Judge at the Orrin G. Hatch United States District Courthouse in Salt Lake City.
The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Felice Viti of the District of Utah. The investigation is being conducted by an FBI Task Force Officer with assistance from the Salt Lake City Police Department. Assistant United States Attorneys Bryan N. Reeves and Michael Kennedy are prosecuting the case.
