Utah man indicted for series of credit union robberies across Salt Lake Valley

A Utah man has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Salt Lake City for allegedly robbing multiple credit unions over a five-month period. Dennis L. Dyches, 57, from Salt Lake County, faces charges of robbing six credit unions between October 2024 and February 2025.

Court documents indicate that Dyches began his alleged spree on October 11, 2024, at the Mountain America Credit Union in Murray, Utah. He purportedly continued his activities with robberies at Golden West Credit Union in West Jordan on October 16 and Granite Credit Union in Midvale on November 20. In December 2024 and February 2025, he allegedly targeted the same America First Credit Union inside Macey’s grocery store in Murray twice.

The final incident occurred on February 27, 2025, at an America First Credit Union inside Dan’s Foods grocery store in Salt Lake City. During this robbery, Dyches reportedly handed the teller a note demanding money. Surveillance footage later captured him leaving in a black Jeep Cherokee linked to a family member.

Dyches was apprehended without incident on March 4, 2025. A search of the vehicle revealed clothing and accessories matching descriptions from the robberies. He is now facing six counts of credit union robbery with an initial court appearance set for March 13, 2025.

Acting United States Attorney Felice John Viti announced the indictment. The FBI's Salt Lake City Field Office is conducting the investigation, while the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Utah is handling prosecution efforts.

This case falls under Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime.

"An indictment is merely an allegation and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law," stated officials involved with the case.
